Social Network Fragments ("SNF") visualizes the structure of
one's
social network based on email correspondance. It creates an abstract yet
revealing portrait not only of the individual, but also of the
relationships between all of one's email contacts.
SNF is interested in exploring the structure of an individual's
social network, as conveyed through one's email behaviors. The
relationship between actors in one's network says a great deal about the
individual, revealing how they segments their social identity. In this
project, we use visualization techniques to reveal the patterns embedded
in the immense social data accumulated during one's digital email
interactions.
SNF is a collaboration with danah boyd (homepage) of the MIT Media Lab's
Sociable Media Group (Media Lab
SNF Project homepage; local copy).
